Venice, Italy: Quick Inspirations

  On one of my first travels abroad, I developed the process of starting each location painting with a small sketch in pencil, then color, then paint, then 3-d fold outs and unique effects.  It grew into about 60 (so far) collections of priceless studies inside a hardcover.   These are not journals or finished artworks.  They are 'Painted Echoes' - records of a quick inspiration that a camera cannot capture.  

 And I usually make a quick note of the echoes:  the gondolas bouncing against each other and the water splashing up at my feet.
